FACTS ABOUT PRIMO

Plast Holder Bedre

PLASTIC IS BENEFICIAL FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Our PVC mouldings are manufactured without the use of heavy metals by an environmentally-certified company.

Plastic saves on resources. The amount of energy used during plastic manufacturing is low in comparison to other materials. Heavier materials are replaced in many places with lightweight plastic components, thereby saving on energy and transportation costs.

PLASTIC HOLDS UP IN THE LONG TERM– AND HOLDS UP WELL

Plastic is practically maintenance-free and is resistant to water and moisture. This makes plastic ideal for building materials that require a long lifespan. Plastic is incredibly durable– our mouldings are virtually durable.

PLASTIC IS BUDGET-FRIENDLY

Plastic’s long lifespan makes it extremely affordable in the long run. Waste is minimised and the mouldings come to you fully finished. What’s more, you won’t need to go out and buy paint, and if you consider the time wasted shopping for paint and the time spent painting, plastic offers a clear advantage.

Plastic is more cost effective when compared to other materials in the value chain. This is partly due to plastic’s light weight, and partly because costs in the manufacturing and supply chain are reduced in several ways: A reduced need for raw material, less energy use in the manufacturing process, easier handling/transport, reduced fuel consumption and emissions during transport, and reduced waste.

PLASTIC IS A BETTER INSULATOR

Plastic is a non-conductive material and ideal for insulation– against both heat and cold. Just think of how it feels to hold a steaming hot cup of coffee in a plastic cup versus a metal cup. Among other reasons, this is why we are seeing more and more products traditionally made from other materials now being made in plastic. Today, you can find plastic greenhouses that extend the growing season by 2-3 months because plastic lets in the light while keeping out the cold.

Plastic glazing beads have hands down the best insulation properties when compared to wood, wood/aluminium and aluminium.

RECYCLING

In 1998, the Danish collection and recycling company, WUPPI A/S, was founded by five of Denmark’s leading PVC building products manufacturers. The company is a nationwide scheme that greatly contributes to plastic’s respectable environmental profile, as the use of plastic saves 120 million tonnes of CO2 emissions across the planet compared to traditionally used materials.

Plastic also unique properties in that the more times it is recycled, the stronger it gets. And at up to 30 cycles, plastic can be recycled again and again.

PRIMO supports the WUPPI scheme

PRIMO is also a co-founder of the WUPPI recycling scheme- one of the P’s stands for PRIMO. The other founders are Wavin, Uponor, Plastmo and Icopal.

WUPPI is a nonprofit company operated by its affiliated companies. The material that it collects is processed at a German recycling company.
