If you want to renovate windows and doors that have a manufacturing date earlier than 1990, you will typically find that it is precisely this type of groove and clamp sealing that was originally used. The purpose of the gasket is to secure the seal between the frame and the sash, to provide optimum insulation.

If it is not possible to replace the clam sealings, you can use a universal sealing gasket for the same purpose instead.
